Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Winners' medals in hand, Ferran Torres and Hugo Guillamón arrived in Valencia early on Monday afternoon, returning from the Under-19s European Championships in Armenia via Madrid.
The Spanish stars had played a vital role in their country’s triumph in the summer competition: Torres had scored a decisive penalty in the semi-final shootout, and found the net twice with the only goals of the final against Portugal . Guillamón played every minute of the tournament and added solidity to the defence.
“We’re very happy and eager to get back to the group. Now it’s time to work hard for Valencia CF and try to earn a place on the team. We wanted to represent Valencia CF as best we could, and I think that we’ve done that. Now it’s time to go back to the club and get to work,” said Torres at Joaquín Sorolla train station in the city.
“We’re all very happy to come back here with the trophy, which was our objective. We did it, and now it’s time to enjoy the moment. The VCF Academy has done some very good work, and this has also been reflected at youth level for Spain,” added Guillamón.
“The family that we’ve put together is something that will stick in our minds. Being able to enjoy these moments with them and win such prestigious tournaments is a privilege.”
